Bloomsbury takes a few more steps closer towards becoming a prestigious shopping destination this month as the Brunswick redevelopment nears completion. The project has come a long way since it was first covered in Bloomsbury News last year; the building has morphed, in a very short time, into a spectacular complex, from being something of a dilapidated eyesore.
One prospect Bloomsbury residents are particularly looking forward to is that of having one of central London’s largest Waitrose stores on their doorstep. Waitrose, the supermarket of the John Lewis Partnership, is currently being fitted and is set to open on July 20th. Nigel Keen, Director of Development at Waitrose, said: “We look forward to enhancing the quality and choice of food shopping for people living and working in Bloomsbury.”
Developers Allied London’s comprehensive programme of repairs, refurbishment and redevelopment has transformed the environment of the building and created 170,000 sq ft of retail floor space. The majority of the 40 retail units have now been filled, making the prospect of a much needed premier shopping complex a very real one. The Brunswick is due to officially open this summer and is set to change the way people work, shop and live in Bloomsbury.
