Crossrail is a high frequency railway project currently under construction in Central London and into the suburbs. With the opening put back until 2019 this new commuter/suburban passenger service will link parts of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, via Central London, to South East London and Essex.

The nearest Crossrail station to Bloomsbury will be at Tottenham Court Road on the south-western edge of the Estate.

The main tunnels will stretch from close to Paddington Station to Stratford via Central London and Liverpool Street Station. A brand new line will branch from the main line at Whitechapel Station in East London. It will run to Canary Wharf, cross the River Thames, serve a new station in Woolwich and connect with the North Kent Line, at Abbey Wood Station in South East London.

The introduction of a Crossrail service at the edge of Bloomsbury will afford even greater accessibility for Bedford Estates’ commercial and residential tenants to key parts of London and the suburbs, further adding to the benefits of being part of such a Central London location.

Crossrail is the new high frequency, high capacity railway for London and the South East.
